Rules
Because of my
poor english, the page in english is less documented than the french
one. One solution is to learn french :-)
Caution
! The next rules count for 2004-2005's season.
For 2005-2006, read the new rules at the end !

Creating a team
Any team has
12 players in its roster : those players must be picked in the following
categories :
- 1 top scorer
- 1 top rebounder
- 1 top passing player
- 1 top intercepter
- 1 top blocker
- 2 rookies (or newbie in NBA)
- 5 substitutes
In each class,
there are 30 players (e.g. 30 teams in NBA League).
Example : picking Iverson in top-scorers, then Mutombo in top-rebounders,
. For all the statistics, get to Stats.
Caution ! If you have drafted Shaquille O'Neal in the top-scorers,
he can't be drafted in top-blockers or top-rebounders !! That's
why the 30 draftable rebounders are NOT the 30 best rebounders,
cause a dozen of them are already in top-scorers.
Pause
: my english's not too bad ? So, keep on.
B.
Players choice sequence
You will choose
first a scorer, then a rebounder, a passer, a intercepter, a blocker,
5 subtitutes and 2 rookies.

C.
Draft
As the Professionnal
American League, every manager will draft players. This season,
first season of my homepage, you'll have to choose all the players
of your team.
Each of you will send me (by filling forms) your preferences for
each category. That's the fastest way to make all the teams ready
for November.
Draft sequence depends on your rank last year. The last year's winner
(Thanathz) choose his rank. He can choose to be #12 because he would
prefer to be #1 in Substitutes or Intercepters... For more details,
go to the table of choice.
For the rookies2 and Others1 drafts, go read the table of choice's
page. You
have 36 millions $ to make your roster.
1.
Winter Drafts :
From 2003-04
season, a winter draft will occur mid-january, just after the guarranted
contracts are official. Here are the rules :
- each
team will be able to draft 2 players at most
- their values = actual values (no 3% rule)
- if they haven't played for this season, their value depends
on what they are. If they are rookies, their values = 300 000
$. If they're not, their values = last year value divided by 2.
- if a manager hasn't the money for buying a new player, he can
sell a player from his roster, but at half of his value (with
the 3% rule on 40 games (a player who played 1 game could
value 5 M$ !!)). If a manager release a player with a value of
0, he has nothing in return.
- the money the manager got back is added to the money he saved
from the beginning of the season drafts.
- Order of choice will be the reverse order of the last standings
before winter drafts.
- schedules : each manager will send a list of all the
players he releases one week before the winter drafts.
Then, he will send a list of the players he wants to buy (it can
include some players released by other managers), but take care
that the sum of the 2 most expensives doesn't exceed the money
you have ! At last, he will be able to draft 2 new players, at
most.
D.
Player Value
1.
Formula :
The value of
a player depends on his performances all through the season. The
price of any player (except Rookies) is calculated from his personal
ratings (means of rebounds (Rbd), assists (As), steals (Int), blocked-shoots
(Blk), turn-overs(To) and shooting ratings (FT, Pt2, Pt3)) and if
he's part of a Top 29.
Here is the formula :
Ev
= (SucceededPt2*3+Succeeded Pt3*4+Succeeded FT*2+Rbd+As+Int+Blk-To-Pt2-Pt3-FT)
divided
by
Number of games played
For the price
of the player, multiply Ev
by 300 000.
Example : Shaquille O'Neal has an evaluation of 25. He costs (25
x 300 000) = 7,5 M$. But, each time a player is part of a TOP 30,
he costs 500 000 $ more. So, his price is 9 M$. Quite expensive,
isn't it ?
2.
Rookie
Value
In NBA Manager
Fantasy League, a rookie is not exactly the same than in "real
life" :-) A rookie is any player who hasn't played last
season. So, it includes newcommers (from college or Europe or
anywhere else) and players who were injured all season ! There can
be very good players in this category.
A rookie has
no statistics. Then, his value is easy to reckon. His price is his
guaranted contract.The first 30 rookies have a 3-years guaranted
contract.I have just divided by 3 this amount. During the season,
his value will change according to his performances. For the next
30 rookies, see the table of rookies'
values.
3.
3
years contract
After 3 years in the same team, the player's
contract has to be reevaluated. To do this, I sum the last 3 player's
end of season value and I divide by 3. By this mean, we have a new
value which is the new player's price. This
is to avoid keeping players for long term with a ridiculous price.
Example : Chauncey Billups was bought 365 538 $, and was valued
at 4 682 432 $, then 4 692 683, then 4 500 000 $. His new contract
is (4 682 432 + 4 692 683 + 4 500 000) / 3 = 4 625 038 $ (instead
of 365 538 $ !). This new contract is available for 3 years, if
he isn't moved !
E.
Team Value
The team value
is equal to the sum of its players values. But, only the 12 major
players count in the final value.
Warning !!! A player must have played
at least half of the season games. Below 41 games, I take 3% by
missed game from his value.
F.
Trades
As NBA, you
can trade as many players or future draft-picks you want with another
manager. So, you could have 14 or 25 players in your roster. But,
only the 12 Major Players that you specify count for the Team Value.
You can trade until the All-Star Game, around mid-February.
You can, also, trade draft picks of the next seasons !! (see Rules
for 2005-2006).
G.
Victory Conditions
The winner is
the manager who owns the most valuable team.
Season
2005-2006
H.
End of season 2004-2005
- at the end
of the season, the 5 last of each division will go down in the
inferior division. The 5 first of Div2 and Div3 will climb.
- All teams that don't move will keep 5 players, which
will be protected. Their value (for next season) will be
their Buying Price ! (except for the rookies, see below)
- A Playoffs Contest Fantasy will take place, and you'll win the
first rank for drafting Rookie2.
I.
Pre-season 2005-2006
- the 30
teams will take part of the drafts (7 : 5 substitutes + Rookie1
+ Rookie2). The 5 raising teams will have the 5 first rank for
Rookie1; the five falling teams will have #6-#10 rank for rookie1.
- If you had protected a Rookie, he will keep (for the first 3
years you'll keep him) the value he has at the end of his first
season.
- "Supertars injury exception" rule. If a very good
player (>5 M$) has been injured for almost or a whole year,
his cost price (the next year) will be the HALF of the previous
year.
Example : Grant Hill valued 8 M$ at the end of 2002. His value
for 2002-2003 is 0$ (he played only 4 games). His cost price for
2003-2004 will be 4 M$.
- Protected players can be traded. But, for the new owner, the
player's cost value is equal to his value at the date of the trade
- NEW : the salary-cap will be reevaluated each year. I'll
take the sum of all teams of 12 and I divide by 30.
